Working abroad
The most important question with regard to your occupational pension if you are working abroad is the terms of employment.
If you are still employed and paid by a Swedish employer, your ITP occupational pension will continue as before. If you do not earn national pension when you are away, some compensation for this will be included in your occupational pension.
The following also applies:
In the event of illness, after three months you will receive compensation from a disability pension from Alecta even if you are not entitled to Swedish sickness benefit from the Swedish social insurance office.
Occupational group life insurance TGL and Workers Compensation Insurance TFA are also included. Your employer should also take out medical insurance for you.
If you have leave of absence from your Swedish employer and are serving on a contract abroad, it is not certain that you will earn your ITP occupational pension. So ask your employer how they normally solve the question of pension in such a case.
